Shri Surinder Kumar IPS IGP/Director SSG J&K retires on 31 December 2019. The officer in his unblemished service career of 36 years served in various capacities throughout J&K.

The officer joined the services in the year of 1984 and as DySP served on various important assignments in PHQ, DySP Hqrs Kargil, DySP traffic City Jammu, DySP CID Hqrs and DySP AHJ. The officer was inducted into coveted Indian police services in the year of 1997. As SP officer served as ASP Udhampur, SP hqrs Jammu, SP Operations Jammu and AIG welfare/ Provision. The officer served as SSP Ramban and SSP Udhampur also. As DIG of police the officer proved his mettle DIG CID Jammu and DIG UR Range.

On his alleviation as IGP officer rendered a fruitful tenure as IGP Hqrs PHQ J&K and Director SSG J&K. The officer was awarded with prestigious Police medal for meritorious services in the year of 2003 and Police medal for distinguished services in the year of 2016. A gala function was organised in SSG Hqrs Jammu to bid adieu to the retiring officer. All the officers and officials from SSG J&K attended the function.
